The rhythm desk / browser metronome
Find a pulse.
Leave room to listen.
One click per beat, 40–180 BPM. Choose 1–6 beats per bar and an optional higher-pitched first beat. Use the pulse to support a small exercise, not to force a rushed chord change.
JavaScript and browser audio support are needed. Sound starts only when you press Start.
The visual markers support the audio; screen refresh and device latency can make them differ slightly.
Try the count before adding a chord change
Begin at a pace you can count comfortably. Say 1, 2, 3, 4 with four beats per bar. Tap a finger or use a chord you already know with one gentle down-strum per beat. Then try a strum only on beat 1 while continuing to count the other beats. These are original pulse exercises, not a song transcription.
A few practical limits
Start with a low device volume; the click-level control is relative and cannot measure your listening level. Audio output needs a user gesture and may be blocked by browser settings. This is a practice pulse, not recording-grade synchronisation or a microphone tuner. Changing tempo, bar length or accent stops and resets the pattern; press Start for the new settings. Volume changes take effect on upcoming clicks.
The metronome stops when this tab is hidden or you navigate away. Keep it visible while practising. If audio is interrupted or unsupported, it shows a message rather than silently claiming it is running. The page makes no microphone request and does not record sound.
